Build the future of AI for business.

Ironworks AI is hiring its founding team. We're looking for builders who want to own their work, move fast, and help small businesses unlock the power of AI. If you want a front-row seat to building a company from the ground up — keep reading.

Built for builders.

Meaningful equity

All founding team members receive meaningful equity. The CTO role includes co-founder-level equity. We believe the people who build the company should own a real stake in it.

Full benefits

Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance. 401(k). Generous paid time off. We're a startup, but we invest in our people like a company that plans to keep them.

Remote-first, high autonomy

Small team, direct access to leadership, no layers of bureaucracy. We care about what you ship, not where you sit or how many meetings you attend.

Revenue from day one

This is a services-first company that generates revenue from month one. We're not a decade-long bet on a product that may never ship — we're building something real, now.

Engineering Leadership

CTO / Technical Co-Founder

Full-Time Remote Co-Founder Equity

$210,000 – $238,000 + Co-Founder Equity + Full Benefits

This is not a "Head of Engineering" role at a company with a product already built. This is a co-founder position. You will be the technical half of a two-person leadership team: the CEO brings the clients, the industry knowledge, and the revenue; you bring the architecture, the engineering vision, and the team.

You'll own everything technical — from the AI/ML architecture and engineering decisions to hiring and leading the technical team. You'll work directly with clients to translate business problems into technical solutions, and you'll build the systems that turn custom client work into reusable IP and eventually productized AIaS offerings.

Responsibilities

  • Define and own the technical architecture, engineering strategy, and product vision for all Ironworks AI services and products
  • Lead the design and development of custom AI solutions including dashboards, AI agents, workflow automation, and predictive models for SMB clients
  • Build and lead the engineering team — hiring, mentoring, and establishing engineering culture, standards, and processes from the ground up
  • Collaborate directly with the CEO on client engagements, translating business requirements into technical architectures and project scopes
  • Develop reusable frameworks, component libraries, and deployment patterns that compound into intellectual property and drive engineering efficiency
  • Architect the transition from custom services to productized AIaS offerings, including multi-tenant infrastructure and scalable deployment
  • Evaluate and select AI/ML tools, cloud infrastructure, APIs, and development frameworks
  • Establish security practices, data governance policies, and compliance standards for client engagements
  • Participate in sales conversations and client presentations as the technical authority

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of software engineering experience, with 4+ years in AI/ML, data engineering, or applied machine learning
  • Demonstrated experience building and shipping AI/ML systems in production environments — not just research or prototypes
  • Strong full-stack technical skills: you can architect a system, write production code, deploy infrastructure, and debug at every layer
  • Experience leading or building engineering teams (hiring, technical mentorship, code review culture, sprint planning)
  • Proficiency with modern AI/ML frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, Hugging Face, LangChain, or equivalent) and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
  • Experience with LLM-based applications, agent systems, RAG architectures, or similar applied GenAI work
  • Strong communication skills — able to explain technical concepts to non-technical clients and stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior startup or co-founder experience, especially in services-to-product transitions
  • Experience in consulting or professional services (client-facing delivery, scoping, SOWs)
  • Familiarity with the political, public affairs, or government affairs industry
  • Experience building multi-tenant SaaS platforms or productizing custom solutions

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary: $210,000 – $238,000 (co-founder level; adjusts as revenue scales)
  • Co-founder equity stake with standard 4-year vesting and 1-year cliff
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) retirement plan
  • Generous PTO policy
  • Remote-first work environment

Sr. AI/ML Engineer

Full-Time Remote Equity

$232,500 – $263,500 + Employee Equity + Full Benefits

You'll be the core builder on our engineering team — the person who takes a client's business problem and turns it into a working AI system. This is a hands-on, high-impact role where you'll design and develop custom AI/ML solutions across a range of SMB clients.

You'll work closely with the CTO to build everything from intelligent agents and workflow automation to predictive models and real-time dashboards. As one of the first engineering hires, you'll have significant influence over our technical stack, architecture patterns, and the reusable IP library that will power our growth.

  • Build and fine-tune LLM-based applications, RAG systems, and agent architectures tailored to specific business use cases
  • Develop data pipelines, ETL processes, and integration layers connecting client data sources to AI-powered tools
  • Create reusable components, frameworks, and deployment templates that accelerate future client engagements
  • Collaborate with the CTO on system architecture decisions and technical strategy
  • Participate in client discovery sessions to understand business requirements and translate them into technical specifications
  • Implement monitoring, logging, and observability for deployed AI systems to support our Manage service tier
  • Conduct model evaluation, testing, and continuous improvement for production systems
  • Contribute to internal knowledge sharing, documentation, and engineering best practices

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience with 3+ years focused on AI/ML, applied machine learning, or data science in production environments
  • Strong proficiency in Python and experience with AI/ML frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, scikit-learn, Hugging Face, LangChain, or equivalent)
  • Hands-on experience building and deploying LLM-based applications, including prompt engineering, fine-tuning, RAG, and agent frameworks
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and containerized deployments (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Solid understanding of data engineering fundamentals: SQL, data pipelines, ETL, and working with diverse data sources
  • Experience deploying and monitoring ML models in production, including performance tracking and model retraining
  • Ability to work directly with non-technical stakeholders to scope and deliver technical solutions

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a consulting, agency, or professional services environment where you delivered custom solutions for multiple clients
  • Familiarity with NLP applications: document processing, text classification, summarization, entity extraction
  • Experience building real-time dashboards or business intelligence tools (Streamlit, Dash, custom React)
  • Knowledge of workflow automation platforms (n8n, Zapier, Make) or experience building custom orchestration systems
  • Familiarity with political technology, public affairs tools, or government data systems

Full-Stack Developer

Full-Time Remote Equity

$172,500 – $195,500 + Employee Equity + Full Benefits

You'll be the person who makes our AI work visible and usable. While the AI/ML engineers build the intelligence behind the scenes, you'll create the client-facing applications, dashboards, and interfaces that put that intelligence in people's hands.

As one of the first four team members, you'll have outsized influence on our front-end architecture, design system, and the user experience of every product we ship. You'll work across our entire service line — from Consult deliverables and Build project applications to the Manage client portal and eventually our productized AIaS tools.

Responsibilities
